Comments: I woke up at 5:00. I got ready to go for a hike and it unexpectedly began to rain at about 7:00. This was not in the forecast … it seems to be an isolated shower. I took the time to work on details for my departure. I checked the tracking for the propane solenoids and they are already in South Africa. The package just left Joberg, presumably for Cape Town, so it looks like I will indeed receive the package by Monday. I am planning a departure for Saldanha about 10:00 on Tuesday, before the wind picks up. It looks like very light winds for 24h, which is good because I plan to slow my roll to arrive a Yachtport early Wednesday morning. I have scheduled my outgoing formalities for later that day. Depending on when they are finished, I will either leave Wednesday or Thursday morning. I expect the first leg of the passage, the 1700 nm to my first waypoint, St. Helena, to take 15-16 days, so I will celebrate Christmas and New Years during the first leg. It is 8:00 and the rain clouds are still around the mountains. May not be the day for a hike. I am going to run errands and move some supplies (bottled water, etc.). After doing some shopping, the weather improved. I was at the trailhead by 10:00. The hike was grueling (because my legs were unaccustomed to such activity after nine months on the boat), but the scenery was spectacular. I crawled back to the car about 17:00 after having climbed Chapman’s Peak via the long route. I didn’t feel human again until after a long, hot shower.
