Comments: The tanker I saw on the OTH AIS passed 26 nm N of me at 17:15. Sunset is at 19:01 at 5.75W. At 18.75W it should be at 19:53. Sunset was at 19:47. There appear to be to threats tonight, so I set the alarm for 2h and went to sleep at 20:30. At 21:00 there was a 20 kt gust that caused the boat to round up. I was not expecting wind that strong so ai had not built enough weather helm into the windvane. At 2:00 I heard the bilge pump go off. I checked the bilge and there was no evidence of water. The automatic switch is sometimes tripped when there is a jolt. Wind is 17 from 135 and the SOG is 5. I am suppose to tack at 3:00, but I see no need to do that now. I tacked to the starboard at 4:00 with a new heading of 325 in 14 kt wind from 125 and a SOG of 4.1. Sunrise is at 6:03 at 5.75W. At 19.5 W it should be at 6:58. There was a ship 26 nm off my port quarter at 4:30. It will pass my stern at 10 nm about 6:30. It is cloudy this morning. I am not going to see much sun for a while. I had a visitor last night. There is evidence a bird ate dinner while perched on the StarLink antenna. It is 7:30 and there is a big storm upwind. It held off long enough for me to enjoy my tea in the cockpit. I am hoping for significant rain as I need a bath and boat could use one too. On the OTH AIS I see Oda and Moana have left St. Helena and are about 300 nm behind me. They must have only spent a short time at the island as they were 1-2 ahead of me when they got to the island. They are probably headed to Recife. Another tanker passed 23 nm off my starboard going in the opposite direction. Before dusk, I expect two more, one from the NW and the other from the NE. Like yesterday, I finally started to get some sun about 10:00. Seems the cooler air at night is producing clouds/precipitation, the passes me in the morning. Unfortunately, some sunshine also brought single-digit winds and SOG 3.5. A tanker passed my bow by 17 nm at 14:30. The distance sailed towards IFN in the last 24h was 948-856=92 nm. The total distance sailed was 20252-20115=137 nm (137/24=5.7 kt avg).
