I left Cabo San Lucas on March 25th. Cabo is located about 110 degrees west longitude. Today, New Year’s Day, at 10:38 UTC I crossed back into the Western Hemisphere. I have sailed 360-110=250 degrees, or 100x(250/360)=70% the way around the world in terms of longitude. Because Cabo is located about 23 degrees north longitude and I am currently 21 degrees south, the percentage in terms of distance sailed is also close to 70%. I have sailed about 18,000 nm and it is 4,500 nm to Barbados, 1,400 nm to Panama, and 2,100 nm to Cabo (18,000/(18,000+4,500+1,400+2,100)=69%).
